Archived article: This is a dated October 2026 market brief. It is historical context, not a current market update. Check the linked primary sources for later information.

Wednesday’s market brief separates two dates: the stock table covers the completed U.S. regular trading session on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while the earnings and economic calendar covers Wednesday, October 21. The gainers are historical results, not recommendations or predictions.

The five-stock ranking below comes from the StockAnalysis U.S. gainers screen, captured at 5:10 a.m. Central Time on October 21. It ranks that source’s listed stocks by regular-session percentage change. We excluded ETFs, ETNs, warrants, units, OTC securities, and after-hours moves. Foreign issuers with U.S.-listed ordinary shares are included; none of these five is presented as an ADR. Prices, changes, and volume are all for the October 20 regular session.

Scope note: “Top five” means the StockAnalysis screen and the eligibility rules above, not a claim that every U.S.-listed security was independently reconstructed from exchange data.

1. WISeSat.Space Holdings (SAIQ)

WISeSat.Space said on October 20 that FOSSA Systems launched the FOSSASAT-2E27 satellite aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 mission. The satellite carries SEALSQ secure-element technology intended for in-orbit cybersecurity testing. The same-day announcement is a plausible related catalyst, but the company did not state that it caused the full move. SAIQ ordinary shares only began Nasdaq trading on October 2, so the stock also has a short trading history and elevated price-discovery risk. Issuer release.

2. Peraso (PRSO)

Peraso announced a production order worth more than $2 million from a network-equipment manufacturer for fixed-wireless-access systems using its 60 GHz technology. Shipments are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 and continue through July 2027. The order was described as its largest 60 GHz production order in six quarters. That announcement coincided with the rally, although a one-day return can reflect liquidity and positioning as well as news. Company release.

3. Alpha Technology Group (ATGL)

ATGL rose 52.64% on the screen, but a specific same-day company filing or investor-relations announcement explaining the move was not confirmed in our premarket review. Treat the cause as unverified. The lack of a verified catalyst is especially important when a relatively small stock makes a sharp one-day move.

4. Braze (BRZE)

Salesforce and Braze announced a definitive agreement under which Salesforce would acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion in enterprise value. Holders of Braze Class A common stock would receive $47.50 in cash per share. The deal remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals and other closing conditions, so the announced price is not a guaranteed payment. Braze investor release.

5. Host Digital (HOST)

Host Digital announced that its board authorized a share-repurchase program of up to $15 million for as long as one year. Authorization does not require the company to buy a specific number of shares, and actual purchases can depend on price, liquidity, financing needs, and other conditions. The announcement is the clearest verified same-day news connected with the move. October 20 company buyback release.

Major earnings scheduled for October 21

These are an editorial selection of three widely followed companies, not an interest ranking. Release times are scheduled and may change. Results were not available when this brief was prepared.

  • AT&T (T) — before the market opens. The company lists its third-quarter earnings call for 8:30 a.m. Eastern (7:30 a.m. Central). AT&T investor calendar.
  • Meta Platforms (META) — after the market closes. Meta says third-quarter results will be released after the close, with its earnings call at 1:30 p.m. Pacific / 4:30 p.m. Eastern / 3:30 p.m. Central. Meta announcement.
  • Tesla (TSLA) — after the market closes. Tesla says third-quarter results will be posted after the close and management’s webcast will begin at 4:30 p.m. Central / 5:30 p.m. Eastern. Tesla investor release.

“Before open” and “after close” describe the expected publication window, not the direction a stock may move. Earnings reactions can also occur in extended-hours trading, which is intentionally excluded from the gainers table above.

Economic calendar for October 21

No major scheduled U.S. federal economic release was confirmed for October 21 in the official calendars reviewed before publication. The Bureau of Economic Analysis schedule shows its next major releases—third-quarter GDP advance estimate and September personal income and outlays—for October 29 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. The Federal Reserve calendar lists the next two-day FOMC meeting for October 27–28. A quiet federal calendar does not mean markets will be quiet; company results and unscheduled news can still move prices.

How to use this brief

A large percentage gain does not automatically make a stock inexpensive or suitable for purchase. Before comparing a trade, record the entry price, position size, commissions, regulatory fees, and planned exit price.
